Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic having employees work from home is now mandatory in some places, a best practice in others. Here at ClearlyIP, all of our employees have the flexibility to work from home as needed. Even our team members that have a dedicated space in one of our offices around the globe can choose to work from home. It’s the work that matters, not where someone is sitting. We had this structure in mind when we were designing our new Kari’s Law and Ray Baum Act compliant SIP Trunking Platform.
In a real emergency, not providing proper e911 services to your employees working from home could potentially expose your organization to both legal and civil liabilities. More importantly, it’s not keeping your employee’s best interests and safety in mind. If you have employees working from home, do the right thing, and make sure that you accurately provide e911 services for their remote extensions.
ClearlyIP VoIP service is unique. We have completely removed the requirement to utilize our service as your primary SIP Provider. You don’t even have to purchase DID’s from us.
Many providers require you to purchase DIDs (Phone Numbers) and e911 locations for each dispatchable Location that you want to provide location-based e911 services. Our solution makes providing e911 services to a large workforce much more economical and easier to deploy.
FreePBX based platforms can deploy our ClearlyIP Trunking Module, which will automatically configure your connections to our services. It makes it a breeze to associate your employee’s extensions with the proper dispatchable locations and call back profiles.
For users of other platforms, we have built user guides outlining the configuration of our SIP Trunking services.
Dispatcher: National 911 Center—- What’s your location?
Todd: Um, Hello… I work from home, but I’ve been here inside for so long, I’m not really sure where that is.
Dispatcher: Well, we can help you figure that out, is anyone else there with you sir?
Todd: No, just my dog.
Dispatcher: When is the last time you saw someone else? Was that today?
Todd: Hmm, my wife and kids… this morning, I think.
Dispatcher: Anyone else?
Todd: The Amazon Delivery Driver, but that was through the blinds, does that count??
Dispatcher: I’m afraid not. We’re going to need you to open the blinds, Let’s go ahead and let some light in.
Todd: How much light?
Dispatcher: Just open the blinds sir.. Do you see a street sign or house number?
Todd: Okay, they are open… It’s so bright in here now, is that normal? It’s so warm on my skin… I don’t see any street signs.
Dispatcher: Yes, that’s how it’s supposed to feel, you say it’s warm on your skin, what are you wearing? Maybe that can help us determine where you are, is there snow on the ground do you have on a jacket?
Todd: Um, well just normal clothes, I guess.
Dispatcher: Outside clothes or inside clothes?
Todd: Well… I guess I’m wearing my Pajamas… I swear I’d changed into regular clothes… I thought these were jeans… Hmm, I guess it was too dark to notice…
Dispatcher: It’s going to be okay, what is your name sir?
Todd: Um… my Name is Todd… sorry I got distracted there for a minute, Breaking Bad is on in the background and the scene where they making blue meth was on…
Dispatcher: Hey Todd, I’m going to need you to focus here, your call was routed to the national 911 center, we can’t tell where you are located, You did the right thing by calling today Todd, we still need to figure out your location, so I can get some people on the way to help you out.
Todd: Okay, that sounds good… but I’ve been Working From Home for so long, I can’t tell you the last time I actually left the house… I’m not really sure what’s going on in the world.
Dispatcher: Okay Todd, it seems that you may be experiencing some memory loss, do you remember anything since your wife left? Did you eat anything today?
Todd: Yes, many times…
Dispatcher: Todd, can you tell me what you ate today?
Todd: I don’t know… I mean I started out with a big breakfast with the wife and kids, eggs, bacon, toast, jelly, orange juice… coffee, then maybe a bowl of cereal once she left.
Dispatcher: Is that it?
Todd: An hour or so later, I had another cup of coffee and a muffin, then for lunch I had some leftover spaghetti… and maybe I had another bowl of cereal somewhere in there, and I made a bag of popcorn for a snack mid-morning… also nacho’s I made a plate of nachos about 30 minutes ago… and maybe another couple of cups of coffee…
Dispatcher: It’s only 11 am Todd, are you sure you ate all that already?
Todd: Um… we’ll I did forget a handful of jelly beans… but yeah, that sounds about right. Wow, it’s really only 11 am? Oh, Ham… I had lots of ham…
Dispatcher: Like a ham sandwich Todd?
Todd: No, just lot’s of slices of ham… I work from home, I just eat what’s easy….
Dispatcher: Ahhh.. Okay, Todd, that’s not really helping me figure out where you are located… what type of work do you do Todd?
Todd: Well today I’m working on updating a slide deck for a meeting… I started the slide deck today…. Well, I downloaded the template that marketing gave me, and built the title slide.. you know the one with my name and picture…. And then that’s about as far as I got.
Dispatcher: Todd, I’m still concerned about your memory issues here, did you forget to finish the deck, what’s going on here Todd?
Todd: Well, no I didn’t forget the deck, It’s been up on a tab in my laptop, I started on it first thing this morning… after some coffee, and I figured I would turn on the TV for some background noise… I didn’t want to watch the news, too much doom and gloom on there, so I turned on Netflix and next thing I know I’m binge-watching Breaking Bad on autoplay again… Sure I’ve seen it, but it was time to watch it again..
Dispatcher: Well Todd, how long did you watch Breaking Bad…Did you go outside today, what is the weather like, is there snow on the ground? We still need to figure out where you are Todd.
Todd. Well, technically, I guess I’ve been watching Breaking Bad for a while, I guess a week or two… maybe three… depends on how many customer calls and meetings I get… hmm… wait… ha, you’re not going to believe this, I’m not even wearing a shirt, it’s just my skin, I think the sunlight is starting to burn…
Dispatcher: So you are just wearing pajama bottoms?
Todd: Um, yeah I guess so, hmm I can’t remember if I actually showered today.
Dispatcher: Todd, I’m really concerned about your memory loss? I need you to walk over to the bathroom and see if your towel is damp okay, can you do that for me?
Todd: I think so, I’m walking over there… okay, I’m here now, I see my towel… um… I’m scared… I’m not real sure I showered this week…
Dispatcher: Sir?
Todd: It’s dry…
Dispatcher: Okay, that’s okay, let’s get you back over in the light… Todd, get back over by the window… Todd you still there… Todd?
Todd: Oh, yeah… sorry just had to pause Breaking Bad… I think I missed a good part, may have to restart this episode…
Dispatcher: Todd, I’m going to need you to stay focused here… Todd, look around the house do you see any envelopes, or mail, something with your address.
Todd: Ah… no, I don’t see anything… It’s probably been a few weeks since I made it to the mailbox.. You know, working night and day here…
Dispatcher: Todd, do you know what the phone number is for your boss, maybe we can call them and get your home address.
Todd: Um… crap… It’s just a speed dial button on my phone…. Wait… no here, I have it… their number is 5007… Yeah, 5007….
Dispatcher: Todd, that’s not helping, we need to know their real phone number….>
Todd: Oh, yeah, okay…. Yeah, their real number… hmmm… ah, I got it… I have their conference bridge number, we are on conferences a few hours a day… I’m usually on mute, we had a conference this morning to plan out our conference call for the afternoon… I bet he’s on another conference call now, maybe I can give you that number, or conference you in?
Dispatcher: Well Todd a direct number would be better… maybe a number for your wife?
Todd: Oh, man… I just remembered why I called you, a conference call… I do have a conference call coming up in a few minutes, and I need help getting my slide deck ready to present.
Dispatcher: Todd… that’s not really an emergency… but maybe you get me your wife’s number and we can get her there to make sure you shower, maybe put on some pants, finish your slide deck, get outside for some exercise and sunlight.
Todd: Oh… that sounds really nice..
Dispatch: Yeah, Todd we get lots of calls like this from folks that work from home, so let’s get your wife’s number, maybe until she gets there, you should stop eating, tidy up a bit, and no more Breaking Bad videos.
Todd: Ah… yeah, sounds good, I’ve seen it about three times anyway…. you know I work from home?
Dispatcher: Shh…Shh…Shh… I know you do…
